Wreaths have a long history in many cultures from head dresses worn by the Greek, Roman and Persian empires that symbolized power and authority, to Pagan, German and Scandinavian cultures who used wreaths to honour the sun and the promise of spring. And farmers often used harvest wreaths made of wheat to protect their crops. The circle shape symbolised eternity and the evergreen leaves signify hope and life.
Learn about the history of wreaths during the workshop.
Your wreath will last the entirety of the winter season even if kept outdoors, you can then compost it, or save and re-use the woven base for next year.
All supplies will be provided, including willow, foliage, ribbons, dried fruit and more. If you have your own ribbons you’d like to use, or old baubles you’d like to re-use, please feel free to bring.
